With the move of education ICT support to Link2ICT all requests from schools/centres for changes to allow external access to school servers are now subject to Service Birmingham change request procedures. Changes for which these procedures now apply include:
- E-portal requests involving changes to DNS servers, routers and firewalls;
- Installation and changes to on-site servers which need to be accessible to external hosts;
- Access to remote servers from schools/centres, eg AVCO exams.
A change request form must be completed and submitted to Link2ICT in order for a network change request to be initiated.

| This form may then be returned electronically by e-mail or be printed and returned by fax or post. To show that this request has met Head Teacher 's and/or Governors' approval, if returning the form by e-mail it must be sent from the official Head Teacher's e-mail account (

); if returning the form by fax/post the form must be signed by the Head Teacher.
The change request, once all relevant information has been received and checked, will be submitted to the change authorisation process. This process will take up to 10 working days. Once the change has been approved it will take an additional amount of time to implement the changes or to complete other procedures which must be in place prior to a change being made, eg external access to CCTV monitoring where child protection and privacy polices must first be addressed. In this case you will be informed as soon as possible of any additional steps to complete.
