Special Educational Needs Print E-mail

Our well-qualified and committed team work hard to ensure that pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) make good progress and work towards becoming independent learners. The emphasis is on developing confidence and self-esteem in our pupils. We cater for pupils with a wide range of needs, including learning, communication/interaction and social/physical/sensory difficulties and our school is fully accessible for pupils who use wheelchairs. SEN Team

Our Teaching Assistants provide in-class support across the curriculum for pupils with statements of SEN. For these and other pupils on our register, individual and group teaching also takes place in our purpose built teaching rooms that are well resourced and equipped with specialised ICT facilities.Pupils have Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and progress towards their targets and are monitored and reviewed regularly in consultation with parents and relevant outside agencies. All teaching staff are provided with detailed information about the needs of pupils with SEN to ensure that all pupils can access the curriculum and reach their full potential.

“The SEN Department at St. Edmund Campion is a welcoming and vibrant environment...the support for pupils is structured, consistent and caring.” (Head of Pupil & School Support Service, North)

“We would very much like to thank your team for all the help, support and guidance you have given my son during his first year. He has improved so much in many ways and we are so pleased to hear this support will continue.”
