Art & Design Department Print E-mail

Art is a very popular subject with the students at St Edmund Campion and very successful at examination level. We encourage all students to work and think creatively and independently, developing their skills and visual expression. It is important that each student also develops their communication skills to promote self-esteem and confidence.
Curriculum

KS3

Art & Design is delivered to all KS3 students once a week for 1 hour.  Students have the opportunity to experiment with a wide range of materials, learn new techniques and broaden their knowledge of Artists and Art within the wider community.
The Art & Design Department try to ensure that ranges of processes are delivered and that projects in 2D, 3D, graphics and textiles are incorporated into the curriculum.

KS4

The AQA GCSE course is followed at KS4.  60% of the GCSE grade is coursework and 40% is exam based.  All students are expected to experiment with a range of techniques enabling their practical drawing skills and confidence with handling equipment to develop.

KS5

Unendorsed Art is offered at AS/A2 level, students can work in a variety of mediums, focusing on anything from fine art to 3D sculpture.  Pupils complete 6 units of work over 2 years and sit a 15-hour exam in Year 13, which is worth 40% of their final grade.
