musicflood.jpgMUSICAL stardom could be just around the corner for Birmingham school bands in the city’s version of Britain’s Got Talent.

A competition run by Birmingham Music Service invited secondary school bands to submit a CD containing two songs, one of which had to be an original work.
Finalists have now been chosen to battle it out at Queensbridge School, in Queensbridge Road, Moseley, on July 2.

Schools involved are: Queensbridge, Arthur Terry and Bishop Walsh, both in Sutton Coldfield, Stockland Green in Erdington, Colmers in Rednal, and Turves Green in Northfield. Bands include Dirty Minz and Blind Fury.

The winning band will receive a day at a Birmingham recording studio and perform at the national Rock and Pop festival at the National Indoor Arena on July 10.
Wesley Bonham, of Birmingham Music Service, said: “The competition has been met with great enthusiasm from pupils and heads of department at schools.”
